DIY Yogurt Masks for Your Hair

If you are planning to spend a lazy weekend at home, take advantage of the downtime by pampering your hair.  Odds are that you probably already have the ingredients you need in your fridge at home. It’s quick, inexpensive and easy to do.  Most of all, your strands will thank you.

1. Anti-dandruff: Yogurt Honey Lemon Hair Mask

Honey It is a natural humectant which will water hair follicles thus promoting hair growth. The honey in this hair mask also helps keep the scalp moisturized and nourished.

Lemon Lemon contains antibacterial properties that will help fight dandruff and kill microbes on the scalp.Ingredients

1 tablespoon yogurt
1 tablespoon honey
A small lemon

Directions: In a small bowl, squeeze a small lemon and stir in the yogurt and honey with a spoon until you get an even consistency. Apply the mixture onto your wet hair strands and scalp. Let the hair mask penetrate for about 10 minutes. When the time is up, rinse off very well using tepid or cold water. Towel dry your hair.

2. Hair Growth: Yogurt Olive Oil Egg hair mask

Olive oil Olive oil lubricates dry or frizzy locks. Conditions hair and nourishes the scalp with healthy fatty acids that will strengthen hair follicles.

Egg Rich in protein, sulphur and other essential nutrients, egg will promote hair growth, prevent breakage, balance oil secretion and soften hair. Ingredients

2 tablespoons yogurt
1 egg
1 teaspoon olive oil

Directions: Throw all your ingredients into a blender and blend until you get a smooth consistency. Onto wet hair, massage the hair mask in gentle circular motions. Cover your hair with a shower cap as you wait for the mask to sink deep. After 10 to 15 minutes, rinse your hair thoroughly using cold or tepid water. Remember; never use hot water as this will cook the eggs in your mask.

3. Condition & Shine: Yogurt Coconut oil Avocado Hair Mask

Coconut Oil Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids such as lauric, capric, caprylic and mystiric acid that will nourish hair follicles. It will make your hair looks silky and super soft!
Avocado Avocado will hydrate dry frizzy hair locks and help untangle knotty hair. It contains nutrients such as biotin and fatty acids that will provide nourishment to the scalp.
1 tablespoon of yogurt
1 teaspoon coconut oil
½ an avocado

Directions:  Blend the above ingredients until you get a smooth consistency, without any lumps whatsoever. Massage the hair mask onto your scalp and slather it onto your hair locks especially at the ends. Wait for about 10 to 15 minutes for the hair mask to sink in. When the time is up, rinse off thoroughly using tepid/cold water. Wrap your hair in a fluffy towel.
